Screenings May 2015

We are very happy to announce more cinema screenings of Brothers' Day coming up in May in both Ireland and Manchester.

The Irish premiere will take place on May 22nd at The Waterside Theatre in Derry. We are very excited to be travelling to Ireland to screen in such a fantastic venue- there will be a producer and director Q+A at this event too.

Tickets are £7+ online booking fee and are available straight from the theatre box office or

First up on May 7th we are 'back by popular demand' at Moston small cinema- if any Manchester based folk missed out on the February screenings then feel free to catch Brothers' Day on the big screen then with Q+A afterwards.

This is a special charity screening in aid of the Miners community arts center mend the roof fund.

Clayton Gordon Interview

What was your role in Brothers Day?
Loki

What made you interested in the role?
I received a call from my friend, telling me about an exciting new Manchester based gang related film. He basically sold it to me over the phone. I came down for the audition, spoke to the Director and a few other team members and was fully behind the project!

Did you enjoy playing this character and why?
The fact that I could be such a different person. I am a relatively quiet and polite person however Loki is the opposite. Loud, outspoken, rude and RUTHLESS!

The tagline from the trailer is "Make your choice" Do you feel your character makes good choices or what advice would you give him?
I don’t think he makes one good choice in the entire film if I’m honest.

If you could play any character past or present from a film who would it be?
Chris Tucker in Rush Hour 2!!! Easy choice!

When did you first know you wanted to become an actor? 
It was after watching a Jamie Foxx film called "Breakin' All The Rules". It is an amazing film.

What  actors have inspired you?
Too many to name but my favourite actors are...

Crew Interview - Luca Rudlin

What was your role in Brothers Day? 
Hey my name is Luca Rudlin CEO and founder of People Staring, I was the the DoP (Director of Photography) on Brothers' Day.

What made you interested in the role?
I had a keen interest in making films and camera work. Also having had previous experience working on short films and a few features I persuaded Angel (director) to let me play with the camera... Also I had a van..

What was your favourite moment during production?

Favourite moment during shooting was the chase scene through Rusholme. Gemma the production manager was cycling our self powered dolly... which some would call a bicycle... while I was getting the tracking shots of the chase, balancing on the back. While narrowly avoiding passing buses and getting my feet stuck in the spokes.

What was the biggest challenge you had on Brothers Day?
The early mornings...
The biggest challenge was achieving the shots we got on little to no budget. Working hard to make the shots truly unique! Also, when Angel said that a mattress, half a door, a water cooler, the dolly, camera equipment, fans, a roll of carpet etc. wouldn't fit in my van along with 5 passengers, I worked out a method to come to a solution, Taking inspiration from my years of Tetris.

Can you tell us about something unexpected, or maybe funny, happening on set?
Shooting from the side of my van (during the Chris and Co riding on their bikes), from the shot we  got you would never imagine how we managed to do it. Involving lashing the side door open of my Van, tripods, cutting the engine(for sound) pacing the bikes. But the end shot is awesome!

Who are your favourite filmmakers or influences?

Mathieu Kassovitz, Darren Aronofsky, Wes Anderson.

Do you have any interesting tips for filmmakers out there making their first film?

Pick up a camera and shoot! 

See what you like and see what you don't. If you like something on a film/advert/music video try and replicate it. Brothers' Day is a testimony to not needing a big budget (or budget at all) to produce something of a certain quality. Just dedication and surround yourself with good people! ...Also a few energy drinks here and there helps too.

The morning after!!

What a weekend!! Thank you to everyone who attended our Premiere and weekend of screenings, it was great to so see so many faces both familiar and new over the 3 nights!

A special thanks to everyone who travelled for the event- there were several people who had even travelled from other counties to see the film!

Massive shout out to Remi and Stainless and everyone who provided the music on Friday. To everyone who helped out on the door, giving raffle tickets, selling posters and of course to Louis and Paula at the venue for looking after us so well all weekend!

Stainless Ste Interview

What was your role in Brothers Day?
Stainless, also the name of my musical persona.

What made you interested in the role?
I worked very closely with the writer Paul Carrington so I got a chance to see my characters development and really liked where it was going.

Did you enjoy playing this character and why?
 I really like the comical elements to my character, especially his rivalry with Dominic.

The tagline from the trailer is "Make your choice" Do you feel your character makes good choices or what advice would you give him?
Yeah, I feel Stainless has good intentions and makes the right decisions, although I would say he should choose his words more wisely.

If you could play any character past or present from a film who would it be?
I'd be the New Godzilla in the New Godzilla movie.

When did you first know you wanted to become an actor? 
I think it's just always been a passion of mine, as a child I would perform stand-up routines and impersonations for my friends in school and family at home. I really love getting chances to assume new roles and display different characters.

What  actors have inspired you?
I'm a real connoisseur when it comes to film and I draw inspiration from lots of lifes aspects, but I truly admire the work of actors like Gary Oldman, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Michael Keaton and believe it or not... Vinnie Jones.

ONE WEEK TO GO!!

The countdown is on, exactly one week to the premiere and everything is coming together nicely :-) 

The posters arrived today as you can see.

Some radio interviews coming as well: our Director Angel and Musician Reminis will be on Wythenshaw FM on Sunday 1st February at 3pm, and some of our actors will also be on Peace FM with DJ Silva on Thursday 5th February at 7pm.
